EQUEST WEST PRESS

OUR STORY

I feel like I experience an extraordinary history lesson every time I write a profile. I get a new viewpoint into a life I may have thought I knew well, only to realize that I have missed the complexity and layers of that life completely.

There is the young rider making a mark in the competitive world or the experienced horseman striving to reach new achievements in their careers. There are the trainers creating and tweaking programs that will draw out the best a student can be, or former riders who were brave enough to carve out a new life after riding. There are course designers who spent years mastering their craft, barn owners who house our precious beasts, and show venues who battle a short season to allow us opportunities to show our accomplishments to date. And of course, there are the Legacies – pioneers of the industry with biographies rich in tattles and tales.

The mission of Equest West Profiles is to capture and share as many of these profiles as possible.

Join us each week as our industry peers share a story, allowing us to explore and incorporate their life lessons and knowledge into our own unfolding equestrian narrative.

"IF WE DO NOT ACTIVELY PRESERVE HISTORY, IT WILL SLOWLY BE FORGOTTEN UNTIL THERE IS NO MEMORABLE TRACE TO BE FOUND. AND A WRITTEN HISTORY IS PERHAPS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN ARCHIVE THE PAST AND LEARN FROM IT.”
